INDIVIDUAL APP REQUIREMENTS | Must apply to Kansas Department of Health and Environment as an individual. There is no fee at this time. |
INDIVIDUAL EXAM FEES | 25-Question Course exam, 70% passing score |
COMPANY APP REQUIREMENTS | $200 initial fee, renewal cost of $100 every five years. |
REFRESHER TRAINING | Refresher training (4 hours) is required every five (5) years from date of cert expiration for individual certification. |
RECIPROCITY | Individuals who attended the RRP Renovator course out of state can apply for certification with Kansas if the training provider of the class is KS or EPA Accredited. Application must be submitted within 1 year of taking the course, and candidates must pass an online test to earn the KS certification via reciprocity. |

NOTES | -Heat guns are not allowed -Certified Renovators cannot conduct tests for lead (including paint-chip sampling). Lead tests must be conducted by a KDHE-licensed lead inspector or lead hazard risk assessor. Otherwise, the Certified Renovator must assume that lead-based paint is present. |
